Cancer

Hi guys so today I am going to be talking about a topic that I’m sure most of us have ether heard of or come across in their lifetimes and that is  Skin cancer.

Lets start off by understanding what cancer is in general, cancer is a form of disease in which our cells act abnormally and can spread to other tissues in our body and can cause tumors. There are more than 100 different types of cancer.

My family has been lucky enough to never have had to encounter cancer in our family. But so with cancer around us so much it just comes to show how much cancer can change your life, it could just be a phone call from the doctor, or a few words out of your GP to tell you that you have cancer.

A few ways to help keep cancer away:

Skin Cancer:

Make sure you where a hat and sunglasses when outside.

NEVER forget sunscreen and make sure it is 30+ or higher, is broad spectrum protection and make sure it protects your skin from UVA AND UVB. (Same goes with lip balm)

Theres nothing healthy about a tan so don’t get one because you think it’s cool.

So that’s it guys, I hope you enjoyed and if you have any questions about cancer please contact your local gp or doctor.

Thanks guys,

Getting ready for Christmas!

As most of you know Christmas is not that far away so everyone is starting to put up their Christmas trees and wreaths up. We put our Christmas tree up on Tuesday and I just started my Advent calender:Yum!

Keep checking back to Mr Polar Christmas to see how many days until Christmas!!

On Christmas Eve every year we always go out in the car and drive around to see all of the lights and decorations outside the houses around Geelong area: It’s so much fun!!!

Question: What do you do Christmas Eve??

All About My Family

Today’s post is going to be about my family. Now before I get started, I just wanted to say that I will not be putting any photos or videos of my family on this post  just for personal reasons:) Also this is going to be a really long post so I won’t bore you with a uninteresting introduction!

So first off we have my mum, it’s kind of hard to explain my mum but I can tell you that she is the best mum in the world!! Apart from the obvious things she does for me: washing, cleaning, cooking etc, she is also just a really great person to be around and she has a really nice friendly atmosphere around her that is just so nice and sweet!

I love her SO much and she is just a fantastic person to be around because I can tell her ANYTHING and she will listen and if it’s a problem she will help me through it. So she is just a very amazing friend and hard-working mum!

Next we have my Dad, man he is the best, he is kind of like my rock in the sense that I can really depend on him to be there for me and I know that I can trust him with anything and he will understand.

Also he is hilarious and really cheers me up if I’m hurt or upset or just need cheering up!

And last but certainly not least we have my brother. I think the reason that we get on so well is that there is a pretty big age gap between us (7 years) so that’s why we get on a lot better than we would if we were closer in age. I really like that I can talk to my brother about Secondary School, University, Friends, Hotmail and a lot more stuff that I can talk to with my parents but I think that it’s a bit easier if I talk to my brother about it!

So I would just like to finally say that I love all my family members SO much and no matter where life takes me that will never change!!

Thanks for tuning in!

Our Nomination- Edublog Awards

Today I am doing a post with a very special guest: Georgia! (Georgia’s Blog)

We are getting together on my blog to nominate ClairvauxConnects for the Edublogs Awards because we both agree that Clairvaux’s Blog deserves this nomination. We are nominating it for the Best Class Blog Award.

Clairvaux’s blog (Clairvaux Connects) is fun, exciting, colourful, inviting and helps you learn more about how our school works and operates. It is a great way to communicate to the world what is happening in our Senior Learning Community.

It teaches you all about the important things like copyright, staying safe on the web and how to comment properly. It taught us the right way to be good bloggers. Now our Junior School students are using the blog to learn the right way to be safe and have fun blogging on the internet.

So we really think it deserves to be nominated for an award!  http://edublogawards.com/nominations/

All the other kids at our school agree!

So thanks for reading and we hope it is selected as a nomination.

This has been fun to work together on a post so we hope to be doing more posts together on both our blogs.

Stay Posted!🙂

Let’s Evaluate-Student Bogging Challenge

Because this is the last challenge for the Student Blogging Challenge 10 we are evaluating so I need to answer these few questions.

Is two weeks early enough for registration to begin before the first challenge?

Yes I believe it is however it may not be for everyone to register so maybe make it 3 weeks just to make sure everyone has enough time to register and get prepared.

Did you subscribe by RSS or email in order to get the posts as soon as they were published?

I didn’t subscribe to get the latest post I just bookmarked this page on my search engine on my computer at home.

How useful are these pages in the header of the blogging challenge?

I personally didn’t really use them that much, only to get to other blogs but I do find that they would be handy, better than just having a whole heap of posts that had links to each of them in the sidebars.

Did you visit the actual challenge on the blog each week or did your teacher have a post on your class blog?

I visited the challenge at school and at home by myself. Our teacher also gave us a sheet suggesting what was compulsory and what was optional to complete.

Which challenges were the most useful?

I think the Favourites post because you could really just talk about yourself and it was really open ended.

Which challenges were the most interesting?

I think the most interesting post was the Favourite Colour one because I could add pictures and it was fun!

What would be some other topics you would like included in future challenges?

Maybe more posts that you can really choose what you want to do, what you like, do you have hobbies, etc.

Are more tutorial type challenges needed?

I think you need to do some tutorials on the essentials, like how to link a Set to a post, how to approve a comment, tutorials like that which I found really helpful when I was completing the challenge.

Were the ‘Visit These’ posts helpful?

Yes because you could get some ideas, and inspiration for more posts and pages.

Were the challenges where you had to embed, ie polls, cartoons, wallwisher etc interesting or could you not embed due to being a free Edublogs blog or a blogging platform that didn’t allow embedding?

Well I can embed those so I didn’t have a problem with them and I did find them interesting.

Were there enough chances to visit blogs from overseas and make links with other students/classes?

Yes I believe there was. I linked to a few and I thought that they would be really helpful to my readers.

Did you make global connections?

I don’t think I made any global connections from the Challenge, no more than usual.

Anything else you would like to mention about the challenge in particular?

I think that it is a great idea to have a challenge to further challenge all bloggers out there to strive to make their blogs better.

Oatmeal Face Mask

An oatmeal mask, sounds silly? Maybe you’re right but hey, it does wonders for your face. I got this idea from a YouTube user called Bubzbeauty. She is a Chinese girl who lives in Hong Kong who does videos regarding makeup, skin care and she has a clothing line. She gives really good advice, I really recommend her!

So let’s get onto the mask:

Uncle Tobys Quick Oat Sachets

What You’ll Need:

Handful Of Oats/Oatmeal-whatever you call it.

Lukewarm water/or cold water if you prefer.

Face Washer/Wet Cloth-Optional.

Towel.

Instructions:

1.Firstly you need to pour out a good handful of the oatmeal into the palm of your hand.

2.Next you need to wet the oatmeal under lukewarm water until it becomes saturated.

3. Now apply it to the face but avoid the eye area because it is extremely delicate. Use circular motions to apply it to the face.

4. Now after scrubbing for about 1 minute you can rinse it off with cold/lukewarm water. ( Don’t be worried if it all doesn’t come off when you take it off with water, just remove the rest with a face washer/wash cloth.)

5.Finally, remove the excess water and oatmeal with a towel.

And you’re done!!

Your skin should feel soft and clean. Next, you can apply your moisturizer.

Thanks so much for watching and I hope you have success with the mask and please comment and tell me what you think!!

PS: I included a little funny animation. Enjoy!:)

Running

This week for the http://studentchallenge.edublogs.org/ we have to talk a bit about a favourite things either to do or just something that we are interested in!

Well when I saw this week’s challenge I thought ‘easy!’

Running! I love running with my dad in the morning. It usually depends on if my Dad is riding in the morning but most of the time we will run 3ks=1.86411 miles. When we started running we would just run 1k and then turn around and when we got back home that would be 2k. But now since we have gotten better we are starting to run more and more. Although I never don’t really feel like getting up in the mornings, (who does?) I know that it is doing me good.

When you exercise you get blood circulating through your brain which is really good for your skin and your body. Also when you exercise you release endorphins which lower stress so the more you exercise the more your well-being will be higher and you will live longer.

So making sure you exercise regularly is really good your you internal and external body.

Thanks guys so much for reading and I hope you have a great day!

My Favourite Colour

Hello everyone!

Today I’m going to be talking about my favourite colour and it is one that I think everyone will love.

Custom Glitter Text

Male Satin Bowerbird

My favorite colour is Royal Blue and the reason that I love it so much is because it is the colour that symbolizes the beautiful satin bowerbird. The satin bowerbird has a beautiful dark navy colour and blue eyes.

Also something I really like about the bower bird is that they decorate the nest or bower with anything blue to attract their females to mate with them. I just think that it is fascinating that they do that. Don’t you?

I got both these photos from http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/

Halloween

I know Halloween has already passed but I want to know about what you did on Halloween night. If you don’t celebrate Halloween, that’s fine maybe you can tell me about something else exciting that’s going on in your life right now, so leave them in the comments.

Halloween Decorations

Halloween Yard

I actually didn’t really celebrate Halloween but there were heaps of kids going up and down our street trick-or-treating but no-one actually came up to our house. (That we know of.)

Also there will be a new page coming up soon, and I will be doing a post on that so make sure you subscribe to this blog or just keep your eyes peeled!

And I’ll talk to you guys later!:)
